General FAQ

Q: Do you offer a CD of digital negatives in any of your packages?

A: All of my packages include digitals, however due to the fact that cd’s can be scratched and just don’t last as long I offer them on a custom printed USB or by download instead.

Q: Does it cost extra to have the images edited?

A: Normal editing is done on every image that has met my standards to be delivered to my clients at no extra charge.

Q: Can I see an example of your albums/prints?

A: Yes, I keep samples of the products I offer on hand.

Q: What if my family/friends would like to order the images online? Is there a website they go to?

A: Yes, once you have had the opportunity to meet with me and view your gallery I will upload it to a private online gallery, you are free to share it with whomever you would like to. A: Most definitely. I carry multiple camera bodies, lenses, batteries, and memory cards at all times.

A: That is a decision I leave totally up to my clients. I would love to share your story but if you prefer that I don’t then I have no problem with honoring the wishes of my clients.

A: Images that are shared on social media are required to retain my logo because I own the copyright. However on any digitals with a print release or prints delivered to a client the logo will not be present. However, some like the logo to be included on prints, if this is your preference make sure to let me know and I will be happy to leave it in the bottom right corner.

Portrait Session FAQ

Q: How far in advance should I book my session?

A: Sessions need to be booked a minimum of one week prior to your desired session date.

Q: How long will my session last?

A: My Family/Childrens/Maternity/Smash/Couples/Engagement sessions can last anywhere from one to two hours depending on the package chosen. Newborn sessions last anywhere from two to three hours.

Q: Where will it be?

A: I shoot on location, so you are free to choose any location you like for your session. There are a few stipulations to this, first being it needs to be within a 30 mile radius of 77420. And second if there are any fees associated with using the location then those fees are the responsibility of the client. I do however have several locations that I have scouted or shot at before that I would be more than happy to recommend.

Q: How many people can be included in the photos?

A: Mini-sessions (when offered) are for up to 4 subjects. Full sessions are for up to 6 subjects (childrens imaginary friends are free…lol). Additional subjects can be added for an additional fee.

Q: Can I request specific photos to be taken (e.g. grandchildren/grandparents, solo of kids.)

A: Yes, I welcome any suggestions. I love when I can bounce ideas off of my clients and when they do the same.

Q: Can our pets be a part of our photos?

A: Of course, fur babies are family too! (No they do not count toward the subject total.)

Q: What do we need to bring?

A: I encourage my clients to bring any special props they would like to include. Just let me know what you will be bringing so I can plan poses to incorporate your special items. However, less is more. It's important to remember that you (your family) are the main focus of the session and too many props can sometimes distract from the subject. Other than that, bring a hairbrush, hairspray, makeup, etc. to touch up when needed.

Q: I know what kind of look I want, but I’m not sure what locations to go to in order to achieve it. Can you suggest options?

A: I sure can, and if neither of us can come up with anyplace right away I am more than happy to scout locations for you.

Q: How do we go about securing our session?

A: Portrait sessions require a $50 non-refundable retainer to hold the date and time. This amount is deducted from the session total that is due prior to the start of your session.

Q: When is the best time of year to schedule my session?

A: This mostly depends on the style you are wanting to achieve and who is going to be photographed. Ideally spring and fall are best because it’s not too hot or cold.

Q: What time of day is best for a portrait session?

A: I personally love the light in the early evening, about an hour or two before the sun sets. The time to avoid if possible is midday when the sun is at its most harsh unless the location you choose has plenty of shade.

Q: How many outfit changes can we have?

A: Again, this is totally up to you. You are paying for my time not the number of poses shot in each outfit. Just keep in mind that the more you are changing the less you are in front of the camera. I usually recommend no more than 2 outfits for families.

Q: What if my children act up on the day of the shoot and we can’t get any good photos?

A: As a mother of four I know firsthand that sometimes there is just no pleasing children. I and my assistants are usually pretty good at getting kids to cooperate. However, I do allow one reschedule of a session (does not apply to mini-sessions) without losing your retainer so if you wake up that morning and you don’t feel like it is going to end well for anyone I will be more than happy to reschedule your session.

Q: I really don’t like “X” about me. Can we shoot around it?

A: I will do my best to make you feel comfortable, we can find ways together to achieve this. I want you to feel beautiful/handsome when you sit down to look at your gallery.

Q: How many photos do you typically take during the session?

A: Many factors come into play when determining how many images are captured during a session. Things like the number of people included in a session, their ages, how cooperative each individual is or isn't, how comfortable each person is in front of the camera, the amount of time contracted for the session, and so on. When all the stars have aligned a typical family session usually yield anywhere from 10 to 30 images.

Q: Do you offer professional retouching (e.g. zit removal)?

A: Basic retouching (teeth/eye whitening, minor blemishes) is included in the price of my packages. Any more detailed retouching can be added for an additional charge.

Q: How long does it take to get the photos back?

A: Turnaround is usually about 2 weeks from the date of your session, during peak portrait season it can take a bit longer.
