Still trying to figure out the perfect gift to give your perfect mom this Mothers day? Check out this list of great gift ideas to show your mom just how special she is to you.

1. Family Portrait session

(I know y'all didn't think I'd pass up the opportunity...but I promise it's for good reason)

This is a great gift idea especially for moms who rarely get the chance to update their family portrait. One of my favorite things is looking back at where we have been as a family, sadly as a photographer I am guilty of not staying on top of it myself. As moms we are so busy that things like this easily take it's place on the not that important list, until it's too late and then we start kicking ourselves for not making the time. If this seems like a great gift idea check out some of your local photographers, most of us offer gift certificates so find someone whose style you love and reach out. You never know, they may even have a Mothers day special going on, and who doesn't love to save a little dough.

2. Pamper That Lady!

If your mom is one of those kinda gals that rarely makes time for herself why not take her out for a day of pampering. Hit up that nail salon and let her rest her achy feet with a pedicure (the paraffin wax is phenomenal!) Shoot over to your favorite hairdresser and get that lady a fresh new do (or a gift certificate if they aren't opened for Mothers day). If money is tight and you are great at doing makeup or styling hair than why not give mom a makeover yourself (just remember to consider mom's likes rather than what may be trendy at the time). If you have the cash and you plan to spend big on mom find a local spa and go all out.

3. Serve It Up

Is mom the main cook in your home? If so I guarantee she would love nothing more than to be served breakfast in bed or have the night off of cooking. I'm not much of a breakfast eater but if my kids ever decided to wake me in the morning with a fresh cup of coffee and a breakfast prepared just for me I would happily gobble up every little morsel. If breakfast is just absolutely not her thing than plan to cook dinner for the family on Mothers day. It doesn't have to be some elaborate 5 course meal, cooking a simple pizza moms way would mean the world to her. Just sit her down to read her favorite book or watch one of her favorite movies with a glass of wine (or whatever her drink of choice is), have her kick those feet up, and get to cooking.....just don't forget to clean up your mess when your done, don't leave that behind for mom to do.

4. COUPONS! COUPONS! COUPONS!

One of my all time favorite gifts to have received from my kids was a coupon book my youngest daughter made for me (she regrets giving to me when I decide to whip it out....you'll understand why shortly). She made it from items we already had available and included several coupons for things like whatever I want & 10 min foot rubs. Not too creative but I love my feet to be rubbed and she absolutely despises feet so the fact that she would give me coupons for something that makes me happy and her miserable just made my heart melt. Of course I use the whatever I want coupons for 20 and 30 minute foot rubs but she says I'm evil anyways, I'd hate to disappoint her...lol. So think of some things that mom loves and make her a coupon book. Dress it up with drawings, stickers, scrapbook paper, whatever you find....and clean up your mess!

5. Write It All Down

What better way to let mom know how much she means to you than to actually say it! Sit down and write to her, write it in list form, write it in a poem, or as a letter. Tell her why she is special to you, what makes her the perfect mother, the ways that you hope to be like her when you become a mom, etc. Tell her how you feel because as mothers we often wonder if we are doing a good job. So the reassurance of seeing these words written down is a fantastic gift to let mom know how wonderful she is. Dress it up by framing it, decorate it with some dried flowers if you have them and if you don't find something else you could add to it to make it beautiful and something she can proudly display so that she can read those words anytime she feels like shes just not too sure.
